Great selection of music and artist including 'world music' folk styles. Stage set ups were great and well managed. I had a couple of challenges deciding which stage to visit on some occasions so missed music/artists that I would have liked to see. Great selection of different food providers and I enjoyed the upstairs seating platform above the bar at the Severn stage field. The whole site is always well managed in terms of keeping it tidy and footpaths usable. One negative point was that the Pilates had been moved to an indoors room which severely limited the number of people and I so couldn't attend. Looking forward to next year...

Shrewsbury Folk Festival 2024, West Midlands Showground, Shrewsbury - 23rd August 2024
It was a good festival with a variety of music and venues. I really liked that there were no official chairs and you could wander along to a tent and stand up to enjoy the sounds. We were lucky with the weather, but I do wonder how the main stage would have coped (and then how overcrowded the others would be!) if it had been a wet weekend. The real ale bar was excellent; both in range and quality, and the site welcoming, clean and tidy. I look forward to next year's event.

Still give it 5 stars, still the best fest all round imo, great lineup, and have already got our tickets for 2025, though a couple of aspects which we've lost would be a welcome return. (i) After a 5-hr long journey to get on site at 3 on the Thursday and then having to wait - seemingly unnecessarily - to go onto the main site, for quite a while, was frustrating, and hadn't happened previously. (ii) We miss the huge covered tent with seats provided - and the sides! The Severn Stage works well in warm, dry, wind-free weather, but a long, cold and windy evening's concert in the open air was tortuous and having to carry so much with us took some enjoyment out it has to be said. I think that stage needs another bank of the superduper loos provided on the rest of the site, especially as the audience size is so enormous. Although the Portaloos there were kept well, there was no lighting in the evening, so one could never be quite sure! Anyway, massive thanks to all who deliver this wonderful festival. No-one's blaming you for the wind and cold - let's hope for better weather next year! :)

Despite the weather the festival was well planned, lots of great performances, we enjoyed ourselves and will be going again next year.
