Driving from A to B to the soundtrack of Saturday morning Radio 4 ... not really listening ... when up pops an interview with Brian Bilston. Never heard of him but the poem he read caught my attention and he happened to be having a gig not so far from where I live. Took a punt, bought a ticket ... never been to a poetry event like this before! Best school night in an age. Poignant, pithy, with a dusting of humour, and Henry Normal (whom I also had never heard of) thrown in for good measure. Came away really engaged. Particularly loved the poem written by his cat (with a bit of commentary from Brian!) Definitely, from now on, going to be on the look out for more of Brian Bilston's stuff.

Great performers as well as original and often ingenious poems , made this evening terrific. Less than thrilled by the excruciating uncomfortable and eventually painful chairs in the Town Hall, and some members found the sound system quite difficult, but that did not detract fro.m the enjoyment, and exhilarating evening!

Brilliant show from Brian and Henry: topical, thought provoking and whimsical poetry from both artists. If you see this show, you'll be looking to watch them again soon

Brian's sef-deprecating manner drew laughter from the audience. He read a good variety of poems so we got a flavour of his style and ability to make s poem from any thing or one that he observed. There was a great deal of humour and the audience was very appreciative and supportive. I was disappointed that he didn't read any from his new Christmas collection. The local book shop. had the range of Brian's books to sell during the evening and he was available for signings after the performance. I would have preferred the event to begin at 7.30 rather than 8 pm.
