Wonderful evening.
Glen was in great form and chatted a lot with the audience. It was great to be introduced to Dr Martin Shore who was very entertaining both in story telling and bongo playing.

utterly excellent
well, I haven't seen Glen before, nor been to Union Chapel so both were a revelation. I would advise arriving early as seating is allocated on arrival, and although I turned up ten minutes before doors the queue was down the road and round the corner. It was dealt with very efficiently however with staff coming down and looking for bags and telling everyone to get their ticket up on their phone and we all got in at a good lick. The venue, once in, is beautiful, although after 3.5 hours I was regretting the wooden pews! Glen Hansard was very good indeed and utterly passionate. After the great mythic story telling support (who played hand drums later) he played for two hours with skill, passion and humour, with the additional advantage of great songs from a 30 year plus career. I will definitely go to see him again, either with or without a band. I will also be back at Union Chapel

Irish singer-songwriter and musician Glen Hansard is the frontman of the rock band The Frames who have released four Top 10 records in his homeland.
Performing as a solo artist; he has released his debut album Rhythm and Repose (2012) and sophomore LP Didn't He Ramble (2015) which saw him receive a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album. Further titles include Between Two Shores (2018), This Wild Willing (2019) and All That Was East Is West of Me Now (2023).
Hansard also performs as half of folk rock duo The Swell Season.
